ShowTrail magazine
is the official publication of the Saskatchewan Horse Federation.
All individual and corporate members of the SHF automatically receive
ShowTrail.
Our mission
is to promote equine excellence in the horse industry through education,
information and communication.
Quick Facts
- Read by
approximately 6,000 horse enthusiasts from British Columbia to
Quebec and the United States. The majority of readers are in Saskatchewan,
Alberta and Manitoba.
- Additional
copies are displayed in tack shops across Alberta, Saskatchewan
and Manitoba and are sent to members of NAERIC across Saskatchewan.
- ShowTrail
staff are on-hand at events such as the Canadian Western Agribition
and the Royal Red Arabian Horse Show. Copies of the magazine are
distributed free of charge.
- The magazine
is published six times per year by Graficom Printing, a division
of Quebecor Specialty Group, Edmonton.
- ShowTrail
is a full colour magazine with dynamic, professional layout, well
written stories and eye-catching photographs.
- We are part
of Saskatchewan's growing horse industry - one of the fastest
growing industries in Canada.
A New Initiative
Western College of Veterinary Medicine ShowTrail magazine partnered with Horse Health Lines, the
official publication of the Equine Health Research Fund at the Western College
of Veterinary Medicine, University of Saskatchewan.
Horse Health Lines will be published twice per year within
the pages of ShowTrail in May and November.
Horse Health Lines provides concise information about the
latest equine research being done at the veterinary college in Saskatoon.
It is also used as a means of providing information on veterinary
and equine-related activities within the college and throughout
the Western Canadian horse community.
Corporate membership is also available to clubs and corporations. Members of
a club will also receive ShowTrail with their SHF membership. For more

Subscriptions
ShowTrail subscriptions are availiable through membership in the
Saskatchewan Horse Federation.
- Adult Membership: $45 per year (18 years or older, as of 01/01/08)
- Junior: $29 per year (17 years or younger, as of 01/01/08)
- Family: $98 per year (up to 2 parents/guardians plus any number of juniors
in the household)
Corporate membership is also available to clubs and corporations. Members of
a club will also receive ShowTrail with their SHF membership.

Submissions
Club Information is free, as long as:
- The informations is no bigger than 1.5 -2 columns, including pictures -
anything bigger would be considered an article which has to be purchased
- Editor has the right to modify if needed
- Results can not be listed
- The club info is put in on a "first come, first serve" basis. If you want
your information in, it must be submitted by our deadlines.
Articles must be paid for, unless:
- an agreement with the editor is made
- special circumstances
Show Results must be purchased as an article
Ads must be purchased - special rates for members
Coming Events are free, but must be reduced to date, show, contact info.
Editor has the right to modify. Full information can go on our website.
ShowTrail welcomes query letters for stories, photos, personal accounts,
news releases, product reviews and IDEAS on an ongoing basis. Unsolicitated
manuscripts will not be considered. Click here for a detailed freelance

Deadlines
Deadlines fall on the first of the preceding month: December 1,
February 1, April 1, June 1, August 1 and October 1. Copy received
later than these dates may not be included in that issue.
